Business Update – December 2020

Welcome to our Business Update for December, included in this month’s update:

A Message from our Managing Director

Aled Williams “It has been a challenging year whether in business or in our personal lives.

Like many businesses, we have had to adapt our services to remote delivery to withstand this unprecedented time.  We knew we would be faced with many challenges and began preparing early which included making COVID-secure changes to the office layout along with the ability for members of our staff to work remotely from home.

Despite the new dynamic of working, we have been able to continue ‘business as usual’ with minimal disruption to our service delivery and I would like to thank all of our wonderful team for their hard work and dedication.

Whilst we trust that our services have met your expectations this year, we are always striving to deliver the best service to our clients and continually looking for ways to improve.  If you have any feedback, please feel free to contact us by emailing [email protected]

Finally, as we head into 2021, we would like to wish you, your colleagues and families a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and more importantly, healthy, New Year.

Thank you for your partnership, loyalty and support, it is greatly appreciated.”

Kind regards,

Aled Williams

Days Fleet staff get festive for charity

Days Fleet got into the festive spirit by holding our annual Christmas jumper day last Friday, with many members of staff currently working from home it was an opportunity for everyone to get together on a video call and have some fun.

Staff wore Christmas jumpers and festive outfits and to date have raised over £300 for the charity Save The Children.

As part of our charity initiatives over recent years, Days Fleet has raised over £23,000 for good causes.

Good luck Lauren!

We’d like to wish Lauren Rolfe, our Purchasing Supervisor, all the best as she prepares to start her maternity leave.  Lauren has been with Days Fleet for over 13 years and is expecting her first child with her husband Nick in January.   She’ll be greatly missed by her colleagues, suppliers, and clients.

Government introduces green number plates for EVs

All new and used zero-emission, mainly electric vehicles in the UK are now eligible to wear green-badged number plates to help distinguish them from petrol and diesel vehicles.

The plates, intended to make it simpler to identify such vehicles and allow local authorities to easily introduce specific incentives, feature a green flash down the left-hand side

The new number plates can be retro-fitted to any existing vehicles, including cars, vans, buses, HGVs, taxis and motorcycles as long as they emit no CO2 emissions at the tailpipe.

Last month the Government announced it would end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans in the UK by 2030.

Should you wish to order green number plates for your zero-emission vehicle on lease from Days Fleet, please contact us by emailing [email protected]

Winter driving

Keeping your vehicle well maintained is especially important during winter months, please remember to conduct regular safety checks on your vehicle and take extra care with the changing weather conditions.  Please remember that it is your responsibility to keep your vehicle in a roadworthy condition.

Simple checks to carry out at least once a month:

Tyres

Check tyre condition to see if there is adequate tread, tyres should be changed at 2mm. Look for damage such as splits or bulges and check pressure when tyres are cold.

Battery

In winter, your battery will run down quicker due to the increased use of lights and heaters.

It’s also important to keep your battery maintained. Even when the vehicle is switched off, electrical items running in the background (such as security devices) can drain the battery. Should a replacement battery or a breakdown recovery call-out be required to resolve an issue with your battery, this will result in a charge to yourselves.

Windscreen

Clear all ice or snow from the windscreen before driving. Do not use water to de-ice windscreens; hot water can crack the glass. Also ensure your wiper blades are fit for purpose.

Lights

Poor visibility is a common cause of road accidents, and with those dark early nights, it’s important to ensure your car’s lights and indicators are working so that your vehicle remains safe on the road during the winter months.

Screen Wash

Keep this topped up and use an additive at the right concentration to prevent it freezing. Also, remember to check your oil and brake fluid levels.

DriverLine

If your vehicle is on a maintenance or fleet-managed contract with us, all service bookings must be made via our 24/7 DriverLine service on 0345 296 4423.

Any bookings made outside of this will not be authorised and may result in inconvenience to the driver.
