Wales became the first UK nation to reduce speed limits in built up areas from 30mph to 20mph from 17th September 2023.
The Welsh Government have said it will reduce deaths and noise and encourage more people to walk or cycle. The law will change the speed limit on about 35% of Welsh roads where lamp-posts are no more than 200 yards (183m) apart. Click here for more information.
The speed limit has also been cut to 20mph on more than half of London’s roads in a bid to tackle speeding and improve safety. The new speed limits are part of the London mayor’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate road deaths and serious injury.
TfL has accelerated the roll-out so that, by 2024, about 125 miles (220km) of its roads will have a 20mph speed limit. More information can be found on the TfL Website.
