Castelan Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of warranties, insurance and claims handling solutions to the retail sector, took delivery of the Renault Trafic panel vans in one batch.
The company, which is headquartered in Weston-super-Mare, is operating the short wheelbase, low-roof Trafics in Business+ trim line with the ENERGY dCi 120 1.6-litre Twin Turbo diesel engine on four-year/100,000-mile contract hire with maintenance agreements.
Additionally, Days Fleet is providing a range of other services including a 24/7 driver helpline and its short-term vehicle hire solution Flexi Hire.
Furthermore, Castelan Group will benefit from all vans being fitted with Fleet Monitor, Days Fleet’s mileage capture and fault diagnosis tool which plugs in to each van’s on-board diagnostics (OBD) port.
Days Fleet business development manager Alistair Murray co-ordinated the vehicle handover, ensuring all vans were supplied with satellite navigation, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors and internal racking.
The independent comprehensive provider of vehicle funding and fleet and driver management solutions won the contract in a competitive tender against a number of other leasing providers including Castelan Group’s previous supplier.
Castelan Group CEO Martin Napper said: “We selected Days Fleet for a number of reasons but mainly because the company really cared about delivering to us the exact requirements that we wanted.
“More often than not fleet providers can be inflexible and not willing to change their established processes and procedures.
“However, Days Fleet was always willing to look at alternative solutions. We found it very easy to formulate the van fleet structure that we wanted – and at a very competitive price break.
“Throughout the van replacement process, Days Fleet remained professional and diligent – regardless of what I threw at them! The company really did make the process of renewing an 80-van fleet go as easy as it could.”
Castelan Group already operated a solus Renault van fleet and the company remained loyal to the French marque after putting the order out to tender and considering light commercials from three manufacturers.
Days Fleet director Aled Williams said: “It was a major tender process by Castelan Group to go out to the market to select its vehicle leasing and fleet management partner as well as its manufacturer supplier.
“Days Fleet has been in regular contact with Castelan Group for a number of years and that relationship paid dividends when the company went to the market for its new fleet.
“Once again Days Fleet has proved itself to have the flexibility to deliver a cost-effective vehicle solution that exactly matched a client’s requirements.
“As reflected with our recent name change to Days Fleet from Days Contract Hire, the company is far more than a vehicle leasing provider. That fact is underlined by, for example, Castelan Group being one of the largest fleets to take our Fleet Monitor product.”
Mr Napper added: “We were very happy with our previous Renault Trafics and after looking in detail at alternative replacements, the model yet again proved to be the best for our requirements.
“Not only was it a new design and competitive on price, but it also offered excellent fuel economy and a level of equipment that provides our technicians with what we consider to be ‘must have’ levels of connectivity, convenience and comfort.
“With our technicians in the vans for an average of four hours a day, it’s vital that they have Bluetooth to keep in touch with customers and head office, while the option of a good quality, built-in sat nav is another essential – something that we found wasn’t available with a number of competitor vehicles.”
The vans were supplied by City Motors, Bristol, one of 40 nationwide Renault Pro+ dealerships that are specially equipped to cater for the requirements of business customers.
The new Trafics are being used by Castelan Group’s Furniture Care Network technicians to visit customers in their homes to rectify issues with varying types of furniture and flooring.
