HMRC has released its latest advisory fuel rates (AFRs), to come into force from September 1.
There are four changes; the rate for diesel cars, with an engine size from 1,601cc to 2,000cc, increases by 1p per mile (ppm) from 11-12ppm. All other diesel rates remain unchanged.
The rate for petrol cars with an engine size of 1,400cc or less increases by 1ppm, from 11-12ppm, as does the rate for petrol cars with an engine size from 1,401cc to 2,000cc, which increases from 14-15ppm. The remaining petrol rate for cars, with an engine of more than 2,000cc, remains unchanged.
These rates apply from 1 September 2018. You can use the previous rates for up to one month from the date the new rates apply.

Hybrid cars are treated as either petrol or diesel cars for this purpose.
Advisory Electricity Rate
The Advisory Electricity Rate for fully electric cars is 4 pence per mile.
Electricity is not a fuel for car fuel benefit purposes.
